Build a BBQ- Adopt a School

students-at-bunnings.jpgThe SE LLEN LCP in conjunction with Cranbourne Secondary College and Bunnings Warehouse Cranbourne have developed an Adopt a School project for a group of Pre-CAL students. The aim of the project was to show the students a range of options for them to consider if they decide to leave school before completing Year 12.

The project was also designed to give the students a sense of pride in their school by building a BBQ on the school grounds for the benefit of the whole school community. The project started by taking the students on a Career Adventure where they visited another school where students had built a BBQ. Then the students then visited Aussie Disposals to get an insight into careers in Warehousing. The next stop was Freeway Ford to see careers in automotive, covering everything from Sales to Servicing.  The final stop was Bunnings Warehouse were the students learnt about careers in Retail.

The next stage of the project is building the BBQ with the assistance of Bunning’s staff who will take the students through the whole process from designing the BBQ to laying the bricks. Bunnings Warehouse is also helping with donations of materials for the project. The end of the project will be celebrated with a BBQ (of course!) for everyone who has been involved.
