The Re-Engagement Program is a fantastic opportunity to gain employability skills whilst still at school.
The program runs twice a week in conjunction with students on going attendance and enrolment in Secondary college for the duration of 10 weeks.
This program offers students who are at risk of disengagement, two days respite per week from secondary school to explore the world of hospitality and provide educational options and possible career pathways.
Upon successful completion students will receive a Certificate 1 in Hospitality (Kitchen Operations) which will give the student credits towards further hospitality training.
Students will also gain basic skills in workplace hygiene, stock control, basic methods of cookery, knife skills and how to present food.

Applicants will need to attend an interview and complete a literacy and numeracy assessment.
Registrations are now open for Monash University’s 4th annual Computer Games Bootcamp in July 2012 and it’s open to students in Years 9 – 12.
Secondary school students travel from all over Australia to attend and the bootcamp is broadcast live to a global audience.
This week long program is free but students don’t need to attend on all days.
This is an event run by the Faculty of Information Technology for everything connected to computer games.
It’s aimed at students interested in becoming professional gamers, building and designing games, ICT or simply enjoy playing games.
The event is broadcast live to a global audience.

The South East Youth Services Expo is an opportunity for anyone working with young people in the South East (Cities of Greater Dandenong & Casey and Cardinia Shire) and to come together to share information, resources and stories. The objective of the expo is to strengthen the networks between the diverse range professionals working with young people to enable us to work together more effectively.
We are currently seeking expressions of interest from anyone wanting to attend and anyone interested in presenting a workshop on the day. The Prize celebrates the contribution of refugee artists who have arrived in Australia since 1970. This unique Art Prize showcases the creative talent and social contribution of visual artists from a refugee background.
$5000 First Prize (including a solo exhibition and short-term Artist in Residence)
$3000 Second Prize
$2000 Third Prize
$1000 Newly Arrived Refugee Prize (arrived in Australia from 2005)
$500 for eight Honorable Mention Prizes

SEAAC Youth Week festival happening on the 13th April at the Hampton Park Youth Centre as a part of National Youth Week.
The event would include young people from Kingston, Monash, Dandenong, Casey and Cardinia Councils. Invitations would be to young people that we work with who would be from Sudanese, Burmese, Afghan, Liberian and any other ethnic background are more than welcome!
The aim of the forum is to address the issue of bullying, racial discrimination, identity and belonging that is so prevalent in schools in the form of comedy plays and performance by some super comedians from CMY Stand up 4 Rights group!
Stand Up! 4 Rights is a performance comedy program which aims for young people to engage with professional comedians of culturally diverse backgrounds in performance and discussion upon the theme of ‘race’ in all its diversity and complexity. The central aim is for young people, through comedy, to be having dialogue with each other about race, discrimination and the experiences of growing up with diverse cultures.

The Maori and Pacific Islander Youth Program is designed to re engage Maori and Pacific Islander young people back into education, helping them to gain tools and an understanding on how to recognise and prioritise the important things in life allowing them to focus on further education and employment for the future, with a basis in literacy and numeracy, in the culturally relevant space.
This course is an alternative to a Year 10 pass at Secondary school.

Due to popular demand, the South East LLEN is delivering another two part workshop to equip those teaching or working with young people of refugee background with the knowledge and support to offer appropriate careers and transitions advice to them and their parents.
Targeted at Multicultural Education Aides, ESL teachers and youth workers, this course provides up-to-date information and online resources to help you guide young people to make informed choices. We have only two places left in this course which runs on Monday 23rd and Monday 30th April.
