LLEN’s Beyond 2008

At the end of 2007 the Victorian Skills Commission wrote to all Local Learning and Employment Networks with the news that LLENs will be funded for a further three years from 2009-2011.  As part of the continued funding the VSC have engaged KPMG to conduct a LLENs Beyond 2008 project to provide advice on:

  • the scope of LLENs
  • operation of LLENs
  • links between LLENs and government departments
  • relevant parameters external to LLENs

Eight LLENs, of which SE LLEN is one, have been selected for detailed case study to inform the project.

In April 2007 several LLENs (including SE LLEN) presented a paper on The Future of LLENs to the Network of LLEN Chairpeople.  Download the paper here: 5_280307-chairs-forum-discussion-paper-april-2007.doc

If you have any feedback for the LLENs Beyond 2008 project please contact Shannon (llen@sellen.org.au) or Paul (ceo@sellen.org.au) on 9794 6921 or their emails.

employers-views-uses-of-the-vet-system-2007_ncver.pdf

This publication presents the results of a national survey of Australian employers conducted in 2007. The survey collects information about employers’ use and views of the vocational education and training (VET) system and the various ways employers use the VET system to meet their skill needs. This includes hiring staff with vocational qualifications, employing apprentices and trainees and having staff undertake nationally recognised and unaccredited training. Further information about the 2007 Survey of Employer Use and Views of the VET System can be found in the support documents.

CMYI have launched a web-based public education campaign including the Multicultural Youth Pledge - I personally pledge to actively counter any negative stereotypes of migrant and refugee young people.  I pledge to tackle racism and discrimination in my own community and will work to foster the concepts of multiculturalism.

See the campaign and sign the pledge at www.cmyi.net.au.
