| Information | VCAL Foundation at Holmesglen Institute is requesting interest from students who are at risk of disengaging from mainstream education. These students who have been identified as having learning and social difficulties and/or mild intellectual disabilities are welcome to participate in a range of elective tasters. These tasters are designed to familiarize students with an educational setting which offers individualized support and a flexible applied learning approach. | The Getting To Work program in Dandenong is currently looking for mentors to work alongside young people from CALD background, between 16-25yrs. They are looking for a mentor commitment of an hour a week. The program begins in September. | |

| Information | What is it? ‘Getting To Work’ is a new 3 month Mission Newly-arrived, refugee and migrant young people aged 16 to 25 who have the right to work in Australia and are disengaged from education, training and/or employment. What does it involve? 1. Individual Support & Case Management - provided to every young person, throughout all the stages. 2. Assessment Process – including development of Employment Pathways Plan. 3. Specific Support – to address any gaps/barriers identified in Assessment Process. 4. Life, Learning & Employability Workshops – 3 days per week for 4 weeks 5. Training – This first program will deliver a Certificate 2 in Retail. 17 days of training delivered over 8 weeks 6. Work Experience – 9 days of work experience over 3 weeks 7. Mentoring – supportive trained adult involved for each young person 8. Employment Placement – target for every young person by end of program 9. Post Program Support - 3 months follow-up |
