2007 Australian Vocational Student Prize

CONGRATULATIONS
The South East Local Learning and Employment Network wish to congratulate the students below on being recognized for their excellence towards their vocational studies.

Five students in the South East LLEN area have been awarded 2007 Australian Vocational Student Prizes. The prize recognizes Year 12 students who demonstrate exceptional skill, commitment and achievement while undertaking an Australian School-based Apprenticeship or a Vocational Education and Training (VET) in Schools Programme. Students are nominated for the prize by their school principal.

Vocational Education and Training in Schools Programme and Australian School-based Apprenticeships allow students to develop industry specific skills, gaining nationally recognized qualifications and units of competency and developing employability skills. Each Australian Vocational Student Prize winner receives a prize of $2,000 and a certificate.

The Australian Government introduced the prize in 2005, and is providing funding of $1 million each year for four years towards the prize.
In 2007 the Australian Government has awarded 442 AVSP winners.

The Australian Vocational Students Prize is an important complement to the Government’s $143 million Career Advice Australia initiative, which is assisting young people, aged 13 to 19 years through a national system of career development and transition support.
